Awkwardness Scales - exactly how awkward are you?

It's no secret that I tend to be incredibly socially awkward. My one consolation is that, the longer I'm on the Internet, the more common I find this affliction to be (and I mean that in the nicest way possible, webfriends).

I've tried to help folks cover up awkwardness before, but sometimes there's just no way to hide it. Our awkwardness is out there for the world to see, and the only thing we can do is sit around and obsess: maybe our fear that people consider us the Village Idiot is unfounded... or maybe we've finally become so socially backward that we should just stop attempting to participate in human society altogether.

Uhhh, or maybe that's just me.

If you've ever wondered where you fall on the awkwardness spectrum, I'm taking the guesswork out of embarrassing yourself in public!

Fret no more over exactly how horrified you should be about waving back at someone who wasn't waving at you, or going in for a hug when someone was (apparently) expecting a handshake, or asking that non-pregnant lady, "Hey, when are you due?"

Or, in my case, how horrified you should be about reading an essay at Listen To Your Mother-NW Indiana last week about how awkward you are, and then tripping and falling into your seat afterward to accidentally prove your point. OR WHATEVER. Not that that would happen (except, yes it did).

Anyway, while we wait to see if my lack of walking ability makes it into the final LTYM video, you can check the scales below to see where your awkward humiliation ranks!

Well, I hope we can all agree that, no matter how uncomfortably awkward a situation is, there's consolation to be found in the fact that it could always be worse. For example, you could be on film falling into your chair after a public speaking engagement. OR WHATEVER.

I hope you enjoyed yourself while you were here - and I hope you come back! Please share inappropriate giggles with me on Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook, or subscribe via email so you don't miss a thing!
