National Ladies' Night Out - wanna be friends?

It all started about a year ago, when Interweb (and real life) sensation Jen of People I Want To Punch In The Throat wrote this about how hard it is to find good friends. Girl friends, people you can laugh with, people you can be yourself around. Friends you can grab for a quick drink, or call when your boss/husband/kid/society in general is driving you insane. Friends who get your sense of humor, instead of starting blankly at you like you've completely lost your mind, even if maybe you have. And, it helps if these people live somewhere sort of near you, so you can do stuff together.

Um, yeah. I totally get that.

It may have already come to your attention, but I don't have a lot of friends. I'm that crazy old lady who still considers herself besties with her besties from high school, even though I never ever call them (sorry about that, ladies!) or live in the same state.

Well, it's time to change all that.

I mean no, I'm not moving back to my home town, and YES, I should really start calling my out-of-state besties more often, but what I'm talking about is a National Night Out!

Jen got such a strong response to that post she wrote, she ended up organizing a huge ladies' night in her area that was a massive success, with gals coming from all over for laughs, girl talk, and possibly some alcoholic beverages. In fact, people who didn't live nearby hosted their own nights out to join in the fun!

So this year, we're kicking it up a notch.

Inspired by that night and I Just Want To Pee Alone, the hilarious, best-selling book about motherhood edited and co-authored by Jen herself, and to which I'm honored to be a contributor, we've created I Just Want To Pee Alone Day - for women who need a little Me Time, whether that means finally peeing alone or maybe getting together with friends, or with people who are destined to be new friends.

Over 30 bloggers, all across the country, are hosting a NATIONAL NIGHT OUT (#PeeAloneNight) to celebrate I Just Want To Pee Alone Day, for old gal pals and new friends to mingle, have an excuse to change out of their stained sweatshirts, and raise their glasses to toast being out of the damn house - guilt-free.

The idea sounded like SO much fun, I've decided to come out of hermitage and host one of these shindigs! Of course, crawling out from under the antisocial rock I've been living under wasn't going to be easy, so I'm teaming up with Alyson from The Shitastrophy and Noelle from Bow Chica Bow Mom, and we'd love to see you there!

Oh wait, you need to know where and when, don't you? Sorry, I'm out of practice with this whole "inviting friends to go out and do stuff" thing.

When:
October 16, 2013
7:00 - 10:00 (or whatever)

Where:
Uptown Kitchen
7225 Heritage Square Drive, Suite 208
Granger, IN 46530
(That's near South Bend, IN and the Michigan border.)

Click HERE to RSVP on the IJWTPA Facebook page event listing, and to find the link to make your reservation at the restaurant. I can't wait to meet you!

P.S. Don't live close enough to make it? Well, there's still plenty of time to uproot your family and move here! Or, you could check out the other IJWTPA Day National Night Out events and find one near you! OR, you can plan your own night out on October 16! Once you have the location and other details worked out, email Jen at sweetsadiecreations@gmail.com and she'll add your event to the IJWTPA Facebook page!

I hope you enjoyed yourself while you were here - and I hope you come back! Please share inappropriate giggles with me on Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook, or subscribe via email so you don't miss a thing!

  1. What a cool idea!! I've met a few of my blog friends in real life, but not nearly enough of them! This summer I had Tamara from Tamara (like) Camera and Ilene from The Fierce Diva Guide to Life to my pool (I lucked out, I was in the middle). We had such a blast!
