These are a few of my Favorite Things

Where have my whereabouts been all week? Ha - wouldn't YOU like to know?!?

Oh wait, you would? Well, bless your sweet little heart, I'll tell you.

Hollow Tree Ventures weekly wrap-up 20130615

I was right here, explaining where my daughter and I each fall on the sliding scale of girliness. (Hint: I fell off the chart on the Hot Mess end.) Also, my husband threw ice cream in my face, but not literally.

I was on P&G Everyday, giving you more for-real tips for summer fun on the cheap:

I was also over there with one of my personal favorite things I've ever written - probably because the kids wrote most of it. So, happy early Father's Day - it's about the slightly sappy but mostly funny secrets to being an Awesome Dad. If for some reason you don't like it, I blame the children.

Finally, I wrote up some CraftFails about lawn chicken and chocolatey monkeys. Or something like that, but even funnier than it sounds.

And speaking of Father's Day, which I was (two paragraphs ago, but I know you don't expect me to do things in a logical, consecutive order), that reminds me of gifts. And everyone likes gifts. Even you, so if you can't think of anyone who needs a great gift, BUY ONE FOR YOURSELF. And one of the best gifts? Books.

Here are some for which I can personally vouch, all of which make for great reading this summer, whether you're hanging out on the beach or just hanging out in a rusty beach chair on your cement patio while the kids spray each other with the hose. Either way, these'll make you laugh.

I think I've discussed most of these before (like the one I'm in - coughcough) but two are brand new releases: At Least My Belly Hides My Cankles, by the hilariously cankled Paige Kellerman, and Abby Still Has Issues, by the hilariously issued Abby Heugel. These are such fantastic reads, written by such fantastic ladies, that I groveled at the authors' collective feet until they agreed to let me give away their books - FOR FREE! So keep an eye out for my Great Summer Reading Giveaway, or else you'll be left by the pool reading back issues of Reader's Digest again. And nobody wants that.

Now go enjoy/survive Father's Day - see you next week!

I hope you enjoyed yourself while you were here - and I hope you come back! Please share inappropriate giggles with me on Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook, or subscribe via email so you don't miss a thing!

  1. Is it sad that I'd probably still eat the "failed" version of the chocolatey monkeys? Thank you for mentioning my humble writing that contains the best back copy ever written ...possibly by someone I know.

  3. I'm hoping it's not sad, because I'd eat it in a heartbeat. Literally - I'd eat it *that* fast.

It was my distinct honor and pleasure to mention your marvelous book - just as I'm sure it was a distinct honor and pleasure for whoever you're talking about to be asked to write your back copy. *whistles, looks at sky*

  4. I'd like that check in small, unmarked bills, please!

P.S. I'm not quite sure how these things work, obviously, so how about I'll just mention your book for free because it's awesome and makes me laugh? :)

Thank you for commenting - you're awesome! I mean, even if you're a jerk, at least it means you read my blog. RIGHT?!?
