Summer Homework and Your Reading Assignments

Whew, it's been a whirlwind of a week up in here. Firstly of all, we had to turn in the first month of summer homework to one of my kid's teachers at the good old local public libarry (they love it when you pronounce it that way). This required:
  • Finishing the homework
  • Crying about finishing the homework (this was equally true for both of us)
  • Dislocating my biceps trying to lift the completed homework packet
  • Getting in a car so packed with humidity, some of us didn't fit and had to ride on the roof rack
  • Spending 45 minutes convincing my daughter she has to read something other than biographies about One Direction for her July reading assignment
After all that exertion, believe it or not I also wrote some stuff!

weekly wrapup June 29 2013

I dropped my first internet f-bombs at In The Powder Room, but only because that's really the only way to express how much I love PMS.

I pulled my youngest away from her usual work duties to give her an overdue toddler employee evaluation.

I squeed (yes, it can be a past-tense verb) all the way over to the famed and fabulous Rants From Mommyland, where the marvelous Lydia said I was "perfection. Like a fluffy kitten or a perfectly ripe cantalope," which is now what I'm having engraved on my tombstone, or else written in icing on my next birthday cake. As if that weren't enough, she also published one of my favorite pieces from the archives.

I made NickMom's Funniest Parenting Tweets!

On CraftFail, all my wonderful childhood memories of desserts were almost ruined. Also, Anna from My Life And Kids let me write about her Peeps Pool of Pain, and seriously, every. single, time I look at it, I laugh so hard my eyes tear up. It's an involuntary reaction to bizarre hilarity.

Have you heard about the demise of Google Reader? Well, it's supposed to be gone Monday, so if you follow me there (or even if you don't!) please check out the new social media buttons I made while I was supposed to be writing stuff for next week (at the top of the right sidebar) and choose yourself some new fun ways to follow along, like Bloglovin'. Or else I'll just cry here in the corner, alone. Whichever. *sniff*

Thank you to everyone who entered my Chicago Museum of Science and Industry ticket giveaway! The winner was Kim (Yay, Kim!) but it isn't too late for you! Sign up for the cool FREE program I talk about in this article for smart people, and you'll get a voucher for one free entry to the Museum, too!

If you're still sad you didn't win, mix yourself up a cocktail - then see what it says about your personality in this (freakishly spot-on) graphic by Nicole Leigh Shaw.

And then read these:

See? Don't you feel better now?

I hope you enjoyed yourself while you were here - and I hope you come back! Please share inappropriate giggles with me on Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook, or subscribe via email so you don't miss a thing!
