A guide to what kids love - by age

New parents are always wondering what to expect at each stage of their sweet baby's development, and how to best ensure their beloved spawn's utmost happiness.

That's why I've provided these printable graphics; just staple them together and use as a reference, or give as a baby shower gift. For every age range, you'll know exactly what will bring joy into your little cherub's heart.

Hey, I love repeating expletives, too! Some things never change.

Side note: One thing that's inspired a steady stream of (happy) expletives from me this past week is being in this I Just Want To Pee Alone book - we're the NUMBER ONE Amazon best seller in Parenting & Families Humor AND we made it to the NUMBER ONE iTunes humor book spot!

Thank you to everyone who's buying the book, reading, laughing, writing reviews and helping make this little endeavor such a huge success! If you still wanna snag a copy, it's not too late - previously unavailable Kobo, SONY reader, and Nook versions are ready now, too.

Thanks. You know I love you, right?

Okay, I'm off to do my happy dance.

  1. Can't believe I get to be the 1st again. I think my luck is finally changing. I think I WILL give this as a shower gift. It really kind of nails the whole parenting experience. My favorite was alienating grandma by pretending she's scary.

  3. You're always #1 in my book (see what i did there?)!!! And you're also #2, because you're the shiznit.

What I love about the 30 minute Spongebob recaps are that the show itself isn't even that long --- though it often seems like it is.

    1. I see what you did there, x2. And thanks. :) And what do you mean the episodes are less than 30 minutes? They END????

  4. These are great. My kids love "AGAIN!" In fact they can't enough "AGAIN!".

Congrats on the book doing so well! I'm guessing one might compare it to hot cakes in its sell-ability?

    1. Selling like hot cakes is good. Selling like Apple stock is better. Selling like Apple stock AGAIN and AGAIN is the best.

  5. A most handy reference guide indeed!!

I would add - to each stage: mom is on the phone = great time to ask her something.

    1. Perfect - YES! I would go so far as to say I don't even have to be on the phone. I just have to be trying to communicate, with anyone, anywhere. They'll have a question as soon as the bagger asks me, "Paper or plastic?"

  6. I love the baby's "look on his face when he throws up on you." Although he's a toddler now, mine gagged himself with a grape the other day, then cried when I wouldn't let him eat his vomit grape.

  8. Spot on. "Hold me. Put me down. More. No I don't want that." Then again, my husband says that describes me, so that could explain things.
    Gratz on the book!
