Knock knock. Who's there? Not me.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, but I regret to inform you that I'm not here.

My friend Paige Kellerman, over at There's More Where That Came From, had herself another baby yesterday (Yay!), and she asked me to stop by her blog to pick up the mail and scare off any would-be intruders who might otherwise try to sneak in and steal all the toys her twins probably left strewn across the floor for her to trip on when she comes home from the hospital.

A decent, helpful person probably would have taken something nice over to her blog - a frozen casserole so she doesn't have to make dinner on her first night home, or yet another set of receiving blankets that the baby will never use, or a case of vodka so she can get her tolerance back up to a respectable level after a 9-month drinking hiatus.

But we all know I didn't do that.

Instead I dropped off a blog post, one that celebrates this glorious occasion and all the warm, tender moments a mother can expect in those early days at home with a new baby.  Here's a sample:

All the experts and books and other sources of parenting lies will tell you this is a beautiful time for bonding and breathless cooing over the Wonderous Miracle that is your infant. They don't usually warn you about the real miracle, which is that the human population continues to expand exponentially despite the fact that people start out as screaming, uncoopertive poop factories.
Sigh.  Touching, no?  So please take a moment to head over and send Paige some congrats and virtual hugs - as you'll be able to tell from my guest post, she's going to need them.

If you're visiting from Paige's blog or elsewhere in the interworld, welcome! Please make yourselves at home - I set out a snack bowl of Oreos and Pop Tarts, which you're free to wash down with a glass of Cardboardeaux while you check out some of HTV's popular posts.

And, if you happen to like what you read, I'd love it if you clicked the Top Mommy Blog banner below to vote for HTV.   Or you can just click in celebration that we get to enjoy all the wonderment of new babydom vicariously through Paige's Kellerbaby, instead of personally being the ones coming out of a post-C-section drug haze today to realize we have to somehow find space for another car seat in our vehicles.

  1. Congrats to Paige! And good job you for doing such a great job covering the necessary while she is a bit MIA--obviously blog-posting takes precedent over food and baby blankets.

    1. I thought so, too! Plus, if she really wants some blankets she can always print my post and wrap the baby in it - it's like two gifts in one.
