I Love An Enabler

My name is Robyn, and I'm addicted to blogging.  Among other things.  But mostly blogging.
Hi, Robyn.

But far from trying to kick the habit, I'm here to talk about my beloved Enablers.  These are the fine folks who help make my continued blogging obsession possible.
I've heard other people refer to their Enablers as "Sponsors."  Potato, potahto.
Some of you may have noticed some new clicky tabs at the top of my blog - maybe even a few of you who aren't my mother!  Or maybe you haven't noticed them yet. ::cries quietly::  In case you're just too absorbed in the hilarity of my posts to rip your eyes away and glance at the rest of the page (and who could blame you), I'll just go ahead and tell you about today's Featured Tab.

This tab is obviously for folks whose quest for awesomeness intersects directly with my desire for cash money.

I currently have two magnificent Enablers (or Sponsors - whatever) - you can see their buttons at the top of my left sidebar.  Go ahead, look - I'll still be here when you get back...  Keep in mind, I have more space up there, so a link to YOUR blog, Etsy shop, or small business could nestle right up next to them, all cozy-like.  If you'd like to join Team Cool Kids and add your button (I can help you make one, if you don't have one yet), just visit my Sponsor page for the deets (that's short for "details," for anyone like five-minutes-ago-me who didn't know).  The ads come in two sizes, Super Awesome and Wicked Super Awesome, so there's something for everyone.  PLUS, right now you can use promo code HTV50OFF and get half off for your first month as a sponsor!

Now I want to tell you about the folks who are already encouraging my innerweb misbehaviour.

Confessions of a Semi-Domesticated Mama is the mad-house run by the ever-sweet and exceptionally funny Delilah.  I fell in love with her blog by reading about her relatable misadventures involving stuff like social awkwardness and her five kids - she even has a series called So What?, which she so aptly describes as "Unsolicited Admissions of Parenthood Failure At Its Finest," and a series called He Said, She Said where she shares conversations she has with her husband that I sometimes swear she actually overheard at my house.  She'll make you laugh until you cry, like when she describes her neighbor's yard sale, she'll give you weekly meal plan ideas that (I'm not making this up) even a Kitchen Idiot like me can use, and she'll touch your heart with moving, honest posts about her struggles with depression.  You have to go visit her - you'll fall in love with her blog, but you'll soon have a serious girl-crush on Delilah herself, too, because she really connects with her readers.  You'll be glad you found her - pinkie swear.

SParklingArt is the Etsy jewelry shop run by Sarah, who I can personally vouch for considering we're Real Life Friends (yes, I have a few) and I'm the lucky owner of some of her beautiful jewelry.  I love - LOVE - the works of art she can spin from metal and gems, which is saying a lot considering I don't generally care one eensy iota about jewelry.  I have an enamel Christmas tree pendant that she made for me in high school, which I still wear every year during the holidays.  Here's proof, in the form of a dorky picture of me on Christmas in 2008!

Right now Sarah is dying a thousand deaths because I'm showing something
she made in high school jewelry class.  But I love that thing.
Besides, shut up.  I'm showing a picture of me in my glasses.

She also made gorgeous earrings and necklaces for all the gals fortunate enough to be in her wedding.

This was Back In The Day, before we were taking digital pics,
so this is the only photo of her wedding on my computer.
But trust me, the jewelry was to die for, even if you can't see it.

She's not just my personal friend, she's also a for-real artist, with for-real credentials (she graduated from the Gemological Institute of America in California, where I visited her and we got attacked by seagulls and also drove to Vegas where we gambled and drank beer in equal measure, but when I wasn't there distracting her she actually learned a whole heap of stuff).  She works freelance, and operators are standing by to take your orders for custom-designed pieces of gorgeousness.

Pretty great, isn't it?  Thanks, ladies, for helping me Live The Dream!  Go check Delilah and Sarah out RIGHT NOW at their respective innerweb hang outs.  And to all you people out there who want to get on board, there's still plenty of room in the boat.

I even have some Dramamine, in case the self-promotion in this post has made you a little queasy.

  2. you make me wanna start my own blog and then *enable* your blogging so that for the first and only time ever i can actually say i was on Team Cool Kids...i kind of suck at team dynamics though, so maybe i could just be, like, Team Cool Kid singular...if you're organized and write Team Cool Kid #1 on your shirt, can you be considered a team by yourself...methinks so

    1. I would have to agree - and now I totally want a Team Cool Kids t-shirt. Tell you what - tomorrow immagonna add one to my Zazzle shop. I might also make one that says "I suck at team dynamics" because that's entirely too awesome not to have on a shirt. They'd sell like hot cakes in bulk for all those dumb team-building corporate getaways!

    3. I made those shirts this morning, and they totally reek of awesome - and I gave you credit for the I Suck At Team Dynamics one in the description. :) Too bad zazzle says they won't show up in the shop for 24 hours - noooooo! I'll post links to 'em next week, though. ;)

    1. Thanks so much for saying so! I feel your pain, I get completely sucked into reading blogs and writing comments (because I know how bloggers loooove comments), and there are almost too many great writers out there! I guess that's a good problem to have... unless you have other things to do, like figuring out where your children are.

  4. I really WANT to read that other blog, but I feel like I am developing an addiction to reading blogs. Soon I'll have to suggest blog posts instead of books at my book club meeting. Okay, okay, I'm going to read it--I am so weak.

    1. You won't be sorry - Delilah's the bestest!

I think a Blog Club would be a great substitute for Book Club, especially for those weeks when I don't have time to read a whole book (or remember what a book looks like).

  5. OH DEAR LORD!Dying a thousand deaths, Robyn! But feeling loved, you should feel loved at your funeral right? *kidding* Well, since I have long sold all the pieces I made back when I had "website-launch-enthusiasm" (ironically not through the website), I need to spiff up the space with some new photos. Thanks for giving a great example of what I should've done which is excellent website promotion!:-)I am determined to be an excellent enabler. By the way, I'm going to need something much stronger than Dramamine... ;-)

    1. Good - get cracking! You can pay me in jewelry - or not - or YES YOU WILL!!!! And as for the Dramamine - you're the one with all the Good Stuff. ;)

    1. Right???? Me too! I made them - they should be in Ye Olde Shoppe whenever Zazzle gets around to determining that they aren't rated XXX or filled with potty humor or whatever takes them so long to publish new shirts. ;)
