How BlogHer Gave Me Angina

Today I'm over at BlogHer.  Why on Earth are you posting at BlogHer?  you may ask.  Well, I don't really know, exactly.  It just seemed like the thing to do, because I enjoy making my life unnecessarily more complicated.  It really did start off as an experiment, so I began a post with a few little notes and a non-proofread sentence or two, and (satisfied I'd made some progress) I clicked Save so I could come back and finish it later.

Except (and here's where the Learning Curve comes in) in BlogHer-Land apparently "save" doesn't mean "keep what I did and set it aside for later."  In BlogHer-Land, "save" means "YES, that's perfect, go ahead and post that on the innerwebs for the world to see."  Imagine the shock on my face when I realized I'd sent my sad little sentence fragments and misspellings marching unawares onto the innerwebs, accidentally broadcast in full Technicolor glory as my BlogHer debut.

To make matters worse, the View Count was going up rapidly for some reason, so I began to panic and sweat and hyperventilate a little bit, imagining people reading that blog-tastrophe and thinking I had published it intentionally.  As far as I could tell there was no Delete button or thick velvet curtain I could drape over my Word Disaster to prevent onlookers from gawking, so I was forced to speed-type in an attempt to make it less of a babbling mess before too many more people saw it.  I was only marginally successful, but I believe I stanched the bleeding.

And thus my first BlogHer post was born.

In it, I talk about some of the things I've learned as a mother - things that I wish I didn't know.  Like what happens when a Mommy, who wasn't personally chewing any gum, nevertheless magically wakes up with gum in her hair.  I also created a handy little graph, which should help you predict how likely it is that your little one's, "Um, I don't feel so good," is going to turn into a full-blown ecological disaster.  So please check it out here!  And thanks, as always, for bearing with me, even though I can be such an idiot sometimes.

Update: For some insane reason (probably a technical error in their system), BlogHer is featuring my member post in the BlogHerMoms topic on March 9, 2012.  I'm so honored and excited - squeeeeeeee!  They even sent me this Badge of Awesomeness:
Thanks, BlogHer!

Also hooking up with the 3/8/12 Thoughtful Thursday blog hop hosted by Found the Marbles, Rock and Drool, and Sweaty Writes.

Click below to vote- because deep down you know it's a little  impressive that I have a blog even though I'm too dense to properly operate the innernets!

  1. So commenting isn't my strongest suit...I am okay with writing the comment, but posting it is another story! I read your BlogHer post and LOVED it--especially the graph! I see you already wrote TWO posts today--please don't feel like you have to do a third! Wait until tomorrow or the next day--no one will mind! ;o)

  2. between your actual blog, posting comments on other peoples' blogs, posting posts on blogLady, and tweeting, you're going to end up with time-traveling arm disease.

  8. Liz, thank you for joining our support group. We meet on Wednesdays, but no one can ever find the venue so we all just turn around and go home.
